PW 144MHz QRP contest 2017

From a very windy Epsom Downs, the club entered this year’s Practical Wireless 2m QRP contest.

We had a great turn out of members, with a total of 8 people operating, and others who came along to help.

The rules this year had changed (glad I read the rules beforehand), and we were allowed to use 5 Watts rather than the 3 Watts of previous years, perfect for our Yaesu FT817, which we connected to a 7 element Yagi.

We managed 82 QSO’s over the 7 hours of the contest, with the furthest reaching being Guernsey. Not bad for 5 watts!

Thanks for Alex Zigar for providing the photo’s below.
